Good Children's Bunk Beds - 4 Simple Steps on How to Find One

Finding a good children's Bunk bed can be a real challenge. There are a lot of companies to choose from so what should you look for when looking to buy a bunk bed for your kids?

When I talk to customers I often get the same questions and hear the same comments over and over again. After talking to so many, I thought I would compile the top 4 things to look for when looking to buy a bed for your child.

1. A Good Solid Bed - One of the biggest complaints that I hear from customers is that they just can't seem to find good sturdy bunk beds that they can trust for their children.

I suggest looking for something that is made of solid wood and thick lumber. Most of what you will find at the retail stores is made of cheap press board at best.

Make sure there are enough slats supporting the mattress on the upper bunk. I have seen and heard of some bunk beds with the slats on the upper bunk so far apart that the child literally fell through the mattress.

Also, make sure that they will provide a guard rail for both sides of the bed including the side that is up against the wall to prevent entrapment.

2. Custom Made - Sometimes even if you find a good reliable company the question remains, will they customize it to your liking? It is always good to find someone that will make little changes to meet your preferences, after all you are probably not going to be buying too many bunk beds in your lifetime so you might as well get one made the way you like it.

3. A Guarantee - Make sure that the bed you purchase is backed by a guarantee. What would be worse than paying $500 dollars for a new bunk bed only to have it fall apart a few months after your purchase.

Look for a company that will give you at least a 5 year guarantee on the frame of the bed.

4. Locally Made - While you are looking, it's always good to support your local economy by buying local. if at all possible try to buy a bed that was made in your province or state or at the very least your home country.

In spite of all this, don't let finding a good bunk bed scare you. If you will look for these few things you should be well on your way to finding something that you will be pleased with for years to come.
